On Tuesday, April 2, 2002, the regular meeting of LHSBB was called to order by a motion from John Ash. Angie Reed seconded the motion. Motion passed. President Jan Barwin welcomed everyone. Steve Havron opened the meeting with prayer.

Secretary Report: Minutes from the regular meeting of March 5, 2002 were passed out for everyone to review. Motion was made to accept as written by Angie Reed. Motion seconded by Michelle Scott. Motion passed.

Treasure Report:  Judy Jordan presented a current treasure report (see attached).  A motion was made to accept the report by Kathy Rule. Seconded by Steve Havron. Motion passed.

New Business:  Due to decisions that need to be made, there will be a Band Booster Meeting on May 7 @ 7:00 in the Band Room.

Fundraisers:

The Fruit Sale seems to be going very well. Band members should have their fruit orders turn in by April 8 with a delivery date of April 17. Trucks will be needed to help deliver the fruit. Mr. Ash has divided the kids into teams. The top seller will be able to have their Florida trip paid for. The winning team will also receive some type of award.

An Avon fundraiser is also in progress. Joy Havron reported that the orders need to be in by April 9 and will come back on April 17.

A new fundraiser was discussed: a Blue Devil Band, Beans & Bluegrass event to be held tentatively on Saturday, May 11 @ 5:00 at the fairgrounds. It will consist also of an auction. Eddie Testament will serve as auctioneer. Tracie Forkum is collecting items to auction. It will need to be well advertised. Steve Havron will check with the paper about advertising. Jeanette Adams will handle an advertisement on the cable TV. Debbie Rogers will see about an appearance on Coleman & Co. on the local radio. Steve Havron will check with Sue Vanatta about promoting the event at the next Business Before Hours and Business After Hours. It would be held rain or shine since it is in a covered area. A committee of Judy Jordan, Debbie Rogers, Joy Havron, and Gail Maynard will see about donations of food and supplies: dry beans (white), cornbread mix, plates, napkins, cups, utensils, desserts, & drinks. Tickets will sell for $5. Using preprinted double tickets and having a drawing for a door prize was discussed. Anyone wanting tickets should call the band room.

The City of Lebanon Limited Edition Game is underway. Steve Havron will be in charge of selling advertising for the game. Tentative price range for squares are: regular squares on board - $300, regular squares on board & lid - $500, regular corners on board - $500, regular corners on board & lid - $800, VIP lines - $25 per line. Each game will be sold for $25.00. The cost of preparing, printing, and delivery of 1,000 games will be approximately $16,000. The total amount raised for ads should be $22,000. The ads should cover all cost so the total sales of game would be profit for the band. Pam Kello will print up a contract for Steve to have as he sells the squares.

Band Banquet: The band banquet will be held on May 10 at 7:00 pm. Mr. Ash will check with Witts Barbeque on the food need. Mr. Ash suggested that seniors give their Last Will and Testament while everyone eats for the sake of time. Guests will be charged $10.00 per person with children 12 and under free. Motion was made by Steve Havron to accept these plans. Motion seconded by Debbie Rogers. Motion passed. It was decided to have tea, lemonade, and water as drinks. Motion made by Debbie Rogers. Seconded by John Ash. Motion passed.

He presented a budget of $72,000 for next year. This includes plans for new uniforms in the future, equipment for the band and guard (new and repairs), transportation, and work on the band room (including storage shelves for instruments). He compared Lebanon to other schools. An amount per student was discussed. A possible assistant was discussed. The principle from Carol Oakland was also in attendance requesting a band program for his school. Tuckers Crossroads has also expressed an interest in a program during the school hours.
